अगर कोई पूछता है कि कविताऐं लिखने की शुरुअत कैसे हुई, तो वो याद नहीं लेकिन क्यों हुई, ये मैंने मेरी कविता “लिख लेते हैं यूँ ही के साँस चले” में बयान कर दिया है।
मेरा रुझान कला की तरफ बचपन से था; हर तरह की कला में मेरी रुचि थी। माँ से मुझे किताबें पढ़ने की आदत मिली। पापा के पास हरिवंश राय बच्चन की मधुशाला की ३ कॉपियाँ थी और नीरज की कारवाँ ग़ुज़र गया, जो मैंने बचपन में पढ़ी थीं, लेकिन तब शायद समझ नहीं आयीं थी। फिर लड़कपन में जब गजलें सुनने लगे तब थोड़ा गानों और शायरी की तरफ़ मन बढ़ा। तब कभी कहीं किसी किताब में ३-४ लाइनें लिख के रखी होंगी लेकिन कभी सिलसिलेवार या एक जगह कुछ नहीं लिखा।
कुछ साल पहले सब एक जगह लिखना शुरू किया और कुछ गाने लिख के संगीत में पिरोने की कोशिश भी की। आपको वो गाने भी मिलेंगे इस किताब में।

If somebody asks me how I started writing poetry, in all honesty, I don’t remember that. But why do I write can be easily seen in my poem, “Likh lete hain yunhi ke saans chale”.
I always had an inclination towards arts; all sorts of arts. I got my interest in reading from my mother. My dad had 3 copies of Harivansh Rai Bachchan’s Madhushala and Neeraj’s Karwaan Guzar Gaya, which I had read as a kid but probably never truly understood. As I grew up, I developed interest in ghazals and Urdu poetry. I would jot down a few lines here and there in notebooks but never got all my writings in order.
A few years back I started maintaining a diary of my poetry, in which I added a few songs too. You will find these songs as well, here in this book.
