The Passion of Firaq
Firaq Gorakhpuri is a lover of all things beautiful. A deep pain permeates his poetry, and he yearns for his beloved even in her presence. Loneliness and quietude of the vast night form a dreamy backdrop to several of his ghazals and nazms. His love explores the origins of solitude and connects it to the stillness of the cosmos, contemplating the mysteries that enshroud it. This anthology of Firaq’s works presents carefully curated couplets from his ghazals in Urdu, Devanagari, and Roman scripts, accompanied by their English translations. The book introduces Firaq’s life and poetic style, providing valuable context to his works.
