The Last Version of Us
‘When people leave, do we miss them… or the version of ourselves that only knew how to exist when they were around?’ Nyla Bennet always believed that if you loved people enough, they’d stay. Seven best friends. A tiny cafe called Bruncher. A boy whose songs were always unfinished. She thought some things were permanent. But growing up doesn’t always happen all at once. One cancelled plan, one unanswered message, one quiet goodbye that nobody notices until it’s already happened. As the people she loves slowly begin drifting in different directions, Nyla refuses to believe that ‘used to’ could ever become their story. She fights, to hold on to the people who became her home, and to the future she was certain they’d share. Until she’s forced to ask herself the one question she spent months trying to outrun: How do you let go of a version of your life that never got to say goodbye?
